Yes there are many ways to catch wipers you can throw on windy points, I try to find them on the electronics and then fish with shad rigged up Carolina style. You can look for surfacing fish and cast rattle traps in them. If using crank baits or jigs etc. a stop and go retrieve works really good.

How does one identify a wiper vs walleye vs catfish vs carp on electronics? I see "hooks" but often wonder "what is it?".

Only clue I know is formation. I expect schooled wipers to look like christmas tree formations. But if I start catching catfish and drum then I figure Im fishing too slow. But if your dialed down on big blues on the big traps. Mark um and go for 80s. If the blue bit is on the traps, I'll orbit on um till their gone or I run out of line, whichever comes first. Never leave your fish rule rules.

If you see this then you hit the jack pot and go buy a lottery ticket. Those are wipers but mostly they will look more like the ones along the bottom. Good Luck.

Glad it wasn't only me!

It's that time of year for the wipers to start biting again. I caught a few nice ones and several smaller ones at La Cygne Thursday despite the wind. The "smaller" one was 7lb 9oz, bigger one was 8lb 13oz. A lot of fun on a ML spinning rod.
