Kansas Crappie Camp Spring 15 (Clinton Lake)
Another great Crappie Camp in the books! Dire threats of storms and weather couldn't keep Kansas' best crappie fishermen from gathering at Clinton Lake. KAG and Shortdraw came, too.

As I was trying to get off work early on Friday, the reports from our crappie scouts started coming in Friday afternoon, pumping everyone up. After my daughter got out of school, we headed towards Clinton Lake. By the time we got there, some of the guys who fished during the day had taken off to get ready for the next day, BUT the Liar's Club was IN SESSION. We got to meet Bilbob in person for the first time and sat around solving a lot of world problems, talking fishing, and looking over everyone's boats. Glad they looked at mine, because I had a trailer tire bulging worse than my belly.
The next morning we got up to homemade biscuits and gravy and doughnuts thanks to KAG and Captain Dan.

Most guys got there by 7:00 and we headed off to the water. My girl and I headed north, found the cove the guys had told us about and bam-bam started with a bang. Two good crappie in 5 minutes. Slowed down after that, but stayed fun. We checked out the marina and headed back to camp. Dinner prep was well underway.

There was enough food to feed an army. KAG had pulled pork going all day, which melted in your mouth. Hot dogs, tons of sides, and bunches of homemade cookies from lots of folks including Ozark88! He also is a master crappie fryer and cooked it all up. The camp had a great day with PLENTY of crappie to fry up. The kids asked for seconds on crappie, so they're trained right!

Crappie Chatt in rare form, all hopped up on fried crappie!

Slab sent some very cool KS Crappie Camp T-shirts, stickers, and calendars to the boys and we also had some great prizes from great sponsers. Arkie Lures (thanks Mr. Glen), Crazy Angler Tackle (thanks Flatfish42 on Texas forum), Prostaffbaits, Bonehead Tackle, Charlie Brewer's Sliders, G3 Boats, and Lowrance. We raced the evening storm to get everything passed out, but turned out not to be much of a weather problem.

Spent the night chilling with my daughter while a lot of the fellas sat around and talked fishing. Next morning we slept in a little and most guys that stayed were already on the water. Thanks imajigger for staying around to give Stella some of your secret baits (she made a big presentation to her little sister when we got home, telling her how these were special "bobber baits" and given to her by a real fisherman. I didn't take any offense!

Caught some nice crappie on Sunday and made it home at a decent hour dodging the real storms. Thankful they held off until we got the camp in.

Very big thanks to all who made it and put this thing together! Thanks to Slab and Crappie.com. I am glad to be a part of this sharing group! See you next year, Brad
