leavenworth county lake is nice has good fish. If your on base there is a good pond. "Big water" perry .Ks dnr puts out an atlas every year with puplic waters broken down in counties that'll be your best bet .

Welcome. I was stationed at Fort Leavenworth 2011-12. That was before my crappie fishing addiction. But as said above, FLKS has really 2 good ponds (right next to each other) stocked with channel cats and they have a million bluegills and other small sunfish like redears. Our "Family Record" was 55 bluegills in a row! This picture is me looking across my catfish rigs to the Command and General Staff College in the background (I would leave class and hit the lake 2-3 times a week for an hour or 2)

My little girl became a catfish specialist there. Lots of 1-3 pound channel cats that are very fun on light line. Occasional 5 pounders.

My daughter's biggest bass ever was caught at Leavenworth State Fishing Lake, about 45 minutes from the Post in Tongonoxie. It was really great for a small boat, but we caught this one from the shore during "an expedition" where we tie up on the shore and explore.

Hope you like FLKS. Let me know if you need any info on the post. Brad

Sooners88 When you get settled send me a PM, I live outside of Leavenworth, I take you to Perry lake in my boat and show you some spots to fish.
