Any news on Marion Reservoir?

I've been fishing the reservoir for the last few years fairly heavy during the summer months and at times I've had some incredible success. I haven't made it out this year though yet and I was wondering if anyone was having any success? Also, I fish mainly from the shore and I was wondering how early in the season I might be able to throw net shad since they are to deep in the cooler months to reach from shore. Any info regarding Marion would be helpful and much appreciated!

I haven't been in about a week and a half. Nothing was happening then. Probably turned on the next day. lol As far as the shad I couldn't answer that either, normally i would say yes but we have had such a strange winter i don't think the tempsare up where they normally are. Sorry to be so little help maybe someone else can chime in. If you are smart you wouldn't take my advice anyway. I am still looking fo the banana my son in law left in the boat. Last two trips skunked without so much as a bite.

Don't feel too bad. I spend a good chunk of time on Marion throughout the year and we have caught exactly 5 fish so far in two trips in 2013. The last trip being 10 days ago and we managed one small white bass and lost what we assume was a decent wiper. At that time the water temp was 46F and the fish were in the river channel. We found fish schooled up but couldn't get them to bite anything. The only bait we marked was out in the channel as well, so throw netting shad from shore is probably out for another month maybe? Shore fishing should really pick up in the next 2-3 weeks provided we ever get some steady weather.

Thanks for chiming in Shad. If either of you see an old half worn out pontoon driven by an older even more worn out driver say hello. I don't get out near as much as I'd like but ya do what you can when you can. Good Luck.
