Made a spur of the moment trip out to El Dorado on Saturday afternoon with my daughter. Weather was to nice to pass up, little wind, no sun, and cool. Haven’t fished brushpiles in a while so I gave them a shot. First several didn’t produced but finally found one that I milked 24 fish out of, with only 8 of them being keepers. Accidentally reminded myself of a good fishing tip. The bite on the brush pile was slowing up, I got hung up and had to break off a chartreuse jig, tied on a new jig but this time with a electric chicken body. Dropped it into the pile and pulled up a keeper, dropped it back down and another keeper. So my lesson of the day was not to be lazy and stick with one color but to take the time and switch it up. Evening time, I went out and checked a couple places for whites, nothing, but boated a throwback walleye.

Sunday afternoon I took my whole crew out. Checked a couple different spots for the whites, nothing, so headed back to the brushpiles. More dinks early on, but then toward evening we moved out to a deeper brushpile and boated some keepers up to 13in. Ended up with 30 fish, with 8 being keepers. Knew we were going to have to wade through the dinks fishing the brushpiles but ended up working out.

Shane- Don’t worry I left you some fish since you weren’t able to get out this weekend. The dink crappie that is.
