Default El Dorado Saturday and Sunday

Made a spur of the moment trip out to El Dorado on Saturday afternoon with my daughter. Weather was to nice to pass up, little wind, no sun, and cool. Haven’t fished brushpiles in a while so I gave them a shot. First several didn’t produced but finally found one that I milked 24 fish out of, with only 8 of them being keepers. Accidentally reminded myself of a good fishing tip. The bite on the brush pile was slowing up, I got hung up and had to break off a chartreuse jig, tied on a new jig but this time with a electric chicken body. Dropped it into the pile and pulled up a keeper, dropped it back down and another keeper. So my lesson of the day was not to be lazy and stick with one color but to take the time and switch it up. Evening time, I went out and checked a couple places for whites, nothing, but boated a throwback walleye.

Sunday afternoon I took my whole crew out. Checked a couple different spots for the whites, nothing, so headed back to the brushpiles. More dinks early on, but then toward evening we moved out to a deeper brushpile and boated some keepers up to 13in. Ended up with 30 fish, with 8 being keepers. Knew we were going to have to wade through the dinks fishing the brushpiles but ended up working out.

Shane- Don’t worry I left you some fish since you weren’t able to get out this weekend. The dink crappie that is.

Nice job Tim, dinks feed the urge and keep things moving along. I've been kinda glad lately to catch them, helps me on the future. It seems I've been catching similar numbers of keeper fish with the added little guys. Have you found that the bigger fish seem to come from the same areas on yours piles? It seems like for me those big fish attractor piles have spots in them that produce better. Good post and Thanks for sharing

crappiedoc \ laltec - On the smaller brushpiles, I find the bigger ones come from down in the thick of it down 10-12ft, with the smaller ones coming more off the top of the pile some as shallow as 6ft down. Then on the bigger piles the tallest part of the brush pile seems to be more productive.

Good report Tim and thanks for the info! Sounds like you had a productive weekend. I mowed, stained the deck and planted grass. My wife calls that a productive weekend. I think she's wrong, what do you guys think?

    Nice Job Tim,

I went out Sunday morning for 3 hours and caught 2 keeper eyes and strolled the rocks and had 5 nice crappie. 8-10 foot on breaks were the ticket. Hope to catch more this weekend at Melvern.

Cool, good to hear that you did get out on the water and there were other productive patterns going on.
I'm not going to tell my wife you caught any walleye on Sunday, because she did say, it's cloudy so the walleye are probably biting, we should go try for walleye. We opted to stick with fishing for crappie since it's simpler with two kids in the boat than trolling.
