Thanks SD for that very detailed and informative reply, man you guys get around and you're not even retired... kinda makes me feel I'm not fishin as much as a retired person should...guess I should'nt be so picky with the wind, water releases, rain, moon phase, water clarity and blah blah blah !!

Work hard play hard.... I just keep asking the wife if she would rather the 4 of us be at the bar or on the lake. Also, a date night once or twice a week helps and when she get's tickets to a show I am required to go. It's a lot like selling your soul to the devil only she's a little nicer once in a while and doesn't use a pitch fork, :)

How does she tell when your done if she dose not use a fork. (just a little comic relief sorry)

Thanks for the information everyone. I have never used crank baits to catch crappie. I just may half to buy a few and experiment.
A couple of questions, are you placing your poles level with the water or angled towards the water and how much line should you let out to get the right depth you want? It sounds like each crank bait has a depth number of how deep it will run. It seems like one would need to experiment with trolling speed and line length and use bobber stops to mark your line to go back to the same depth.

I like to keep mine parallel to the water but that is more to be able to see the bites on smaller fish. If you put enough line out you can get the same depth no matter how high you put your rods.

Last night, I bought some crankbaits, and I decided to go try them out. This guy kept hitting it, and I finally hooked him. Doh Doh Common shiner?

Looks like some kind of shad to me.

Have you guys tried pushing or do you just strictly pull them?
-
All we do is pull them, but I have wanted to try pushing them off the front. I have everything to do it, but our pulling setup is so comfortable and works well. If it aint broke, don't fix it I guess.

I'm with labs would like to try pushing but wknd warrior is right it ant broke don't forget to try pink
