7-31-15 - Polk Daniels and new Moline City

We were going to head east but big rains around here Thursday caused a change of plans. It didn't rain enough to muddy up where we were originally planning to go but oh well...
We were on Polk before sun up. Shad everywhere as usual. Flat water . Typical summer bite for bass; close to double figures at 9am, nothing huge. Turned on the HB SI as we were coming back out of the creek and started searching. Saw a ball of shad siting on a small irregularity in 6.2 feet of water and marked it. Eased up to it and thump 14 incher; lost it on surface. Another 14 incher a 12 and a few dinks later the bite died. Searched the whole lake and fished 3 other spots; nota. Went back to 1st spot and caught a few dinks. We were the only boat on the water.
Pulled out at 11:30 and went to Moline. Lunched with small cranks trolling as we scanned. We headed towards a spot I know and when we got there my partner started catching 1 or 2 fish per pass in shallow water; eyes, catfish and bass. We did that until I got tied of watching him catch fish; I mean until the bite died; only 1 particular bait got bit and my fishing partner said "he only had 1" . Then we continued scanning and jigged irregularities, nota. By then the sun started casting shadows and we finally got some ripple on the water so we threw spinnerbaits doing good on fair bass until sundown.

Sounds like a fun day for those green carp and some nice slabs...two different lakes and you found fish on both
