What this kansas State wants to take over the Corp campgrounds in kansas

I think they should leave the campgrounds to the corp to manage. Every time the state gets evolved they screw it up. They will increase the fees and just take the money and not reinvest it in the campgrounds. About ten years ago they did the same thing with the park money and got caught. Need some feedback on this and maybe call your congressman. Their just looking for some place to get some money to balance their budget. They give all these tax breaks to big corporation and then come get the money from the little guy. remember they just took away the old guys free fishing license. Where will they stop?

I agree that they shouldn't be mettling with COE campgrounds. I also remember them taking away the free senior fishing license and don't disagree with that.

Only advantage I can think of is if they allowed you to enter all the COE campgrounds with your sticker anytime you want. Right now allot of the COE campgrounds are closed to recreation from the bank unless you pay the daily camping fee. We push this take a kid fishing and pay tax dollars for our outdoor area's when every year more and more ground gets chalked up as unaccessable. Last year on many lakes I watched the campgrounds sit empty on weekdays yet no one was allowed to enter to fish. Either way you can bet you would have to get your wallet out just like everything else that they know people will pay there money for.

In the corp campgrounds you can buy a year permit to launch your boat for 25 bucks. If you just want to park in a federal area it cost you nothing. The state charges anyone driving into the park a fee. So let me see which is better for the end user.

State is trying to make a money grab
Most Corp grounds are better maintained than state anyway.

I guess what I am saying for example on Milford you cannot enter ie. Curtis Creek or Farnum Creek for the day to bank fish unless you are gonna pay the daily fee for camping in there. I agree there is allot of federal ground that you could park for free but not on these lakeside campgrounds. You are also buying a year permit to launch your boat for 20 bucks when you buy a state sticker as well. Not saying I want the state to take over just saying we are gonna pay our fee's either way.

As far as maintenance my two most visited reserviors are Milford and Glen Elder which both have well maintained state parks. Some of the COE parks that I have been to throughout the state have been dumpy though for instance Marion's. I was beginning to wonder if I was in an ATV park drving into several if its area's and it is all COE. Was just curious what others are seeing in there area's in relation to this.
