La Cygne (10/12/2013)

My father-in-law and I headed out to La Cygne (over Perry) this past Saturday. Neither of us had been, so we figured we would give it a try. We started at the outlet from the power plan and fished there for four hours. We found the sweet spot and were catching Striper, Wiper and White Bass for (literally) the whole four hours. (Side story: This as our sixth or seventh time out on the lake this year. Our previous fish numbers were two catfish, one crappie and one LMB.)

Anyway, the bit slowed down around noon, so we headed up the river to find the boat launch. Found it, but decided it wasn't worth risking a scratch or hole in the boat (no courtesy dock). We'll just use KDWPT or Linn County in the future.

After fishing the river a bit (and losing something of good size; FIL didn't tie his knot proper) we headed south of the lake to find the old bridge. Found it, and tried to drop some minnows, but the wind was too much to compete with.

All-in-all a great day. We weren't brushed upon our Wiper vs. White Bass at first, so threw a ton of WB back that we should have kept, but still came home with six good sized WB.

LaCygne is a fun lake, only fished there once in early spring, it was cold with a northeast wind, but we were catching fish. To far to make it back there too often.
