Default Milford Fishing Report June 17 & 18

Fished Milford for the first time monday and Tuesday afternoon. Made the 135 mile trip early Monday afternoon and after some late lunch and a quick unsucessfull fishing intel stop at 77 bait shop we launched from the Farnum Creek ramp. Primarily after walleye we fished the farnum creek area and out to the mainlake and various other spots and could only find small wipers catfish and drum that first afternoon. Spent the night at Howard Johnsons in Junction City which was very nice.

Slept in and had a late breakfast and hit the lake around 12:30. After getting some great advice here and at clems baitshop we had a much better second day. Took us a while and multiple locations but we ended up back inside Farnum Creek and finished the day with around 15 two to four pound wipers, and 7 walleyes between the girlfriend and I. My girlfriend who is very new to fishing (but catching on amazingly fast) did not catch any keeper walleyes but was excited beyond belief to catch 2 of them both around 17 inches. She caught about 5 wipers and loved fighting the wipers and handled them like a pro on medium light spinning gear with mono line. She had never boated a wiper but had previously had several get off before hitting the boat lol. I had 3 keeper walleye of 24, 21, & 19 inches and one under. Not the numbers of walleye I was hoping for but quality was good and we had an absolute blast. Pulled cranks, spinners and slow death rigs on bouncers but all of our good fish came drifting and verticle jigging jigs and crawlers and the my girlfriend did good on jigs with leeches.

Nice ones> A lot of quality wallys bein takin further up the lake. Are they still holding in that 8-15 feet of water? I'll be heading that way tomarrow evening for the next ten days or so. Got a flat of crawlers and plenty of rigs and jigs. Hopefully they cooperate.

Wondered about farther up lake, figured there had to be fish up there but drove all the way up to the wakefield causeway just joy riding around the lake to see the whole lake and past Farnum Creek saw very few boats. How far up had you been getting walleyes? caught all the good walleyes and wipers in 14 to 16 ft but caught several short walleyes, scads of tiny channels and drum out in 18 to 22 ft. Was told by people at Clems that the bite had moved out a little deeper to around 18 ft.

Had buddies out last weekend with their friends and did very well Sat and Sun. Limits taken both days with fish running 20-27 inches. Made me feel real bad getting pics on the cell phone while at work all weekend. Some fish taken just above school creek on jig and crawler with the majority taken up around the military marina area pulling rigs and spinners. All taken in 8-15 ft of water both days. Have been waitin for them to move deeper. I've a great summer pattern that usually lasts up through the end of next month.
