    Default Finally broke down

and bought an Elite 5 DSI combo from BBG Marine yesterday. Last trip out I broke the transducer off completely. Iv'e been wanting one for quite some time and this was just the excuse I needed. Never used GPS before but sure look forward to it. Any hints, tips, or spare waypoints (lol )would be appreciated.

I like GPS and have map chips in mine. Does the new Elite 5 have a chip slot?. I had one before switching to Humminbird and mine did not but it was a straight DSI unit. I use lakemaster but to be honest the high end Navionics I have seen provide better detail. I use the 3d computer program with my lakemaster chip and it is very nice feature plus being able to color highlight specific depth zones I want to stay in or avoid. I do like being able to punch in the GPS coordinates to a pile or spot and then just following the unit to it, makes it easy.

Congrats and you will like it. A lot of the Corps lakes all have fish attractor GPS coordinates posted on the web page....handy

Congrats on the new unit! If you have GPS, look into getting the Kansas lakes map chip from Mapman. Simply the best maps of Kansas lakes IMO. I'd be lost without them.

Thanks for the tips guys. Yes it does have a card slot. Is Mapman from Chapman area? I'll do a search on him, I definately want to get the most out of this unit. There is alot of info on this site on them.
