Annual Glen Elder Habitat Weekend
The annual habitat enhancement weekend at Glen Elder will take place on March 9th and 10th this year (weather permitting). We'll meet at the Boller Point ramp (west of the causeway) at 8:30 Saturday morning and focus on adding trees to the two fish attractors west of the causeway and the area under the bridge. Once we finish over there, we plan on moving to the Walnut Creek area and constructing a new fish attractor as there have been many requests to add something in the SE portion of the reservoir.
Sunday we'll probably finish up at Walnut Creek and move over to the state park area if we can get our hands on some of those trees. We'd like to add some trees to the Campground 3 and Swim Beach fish attractors to finish off the weekend.
Last year's event was a big success with 20-25 folks helping out each day. We accomplished a lot of work in a short amount of time with that many folks and everyone seemed to have a great time.
The Waconda Lake Association would like to have a head count so they can plan lunch each day. If you think you can come out and help, shoot me an email [email protected] or just reply to this thread.
You'll need to bring weather appropriate gear, leather gloves, fencing pliers if you have them, hip boots, and drinks.
Hope to see some of you out here again this year.
