Thanks for the birthday wishes. At 58 I'm now better than Heinz 57...lol It was good one but c-c-cold as you know. No fishing, would have been miserable anyway.

I was happy to get out with son-n-law Jason on Saturday before the cold front. We still needed to catch 70 fish to reach our goal of "more than 2,012 fish in 2012 and looking at weather thought it might be last weekend to post good numbers! We were fishing ponds. Wind made it difficult. Left first pond about 1:30 with 29 total. Clouds hung pretty thick at second pond, slow bite there. We didn't think we would make 70 then, hoping for 50.

Bite came on better aroun 3 but couldn't hook the small fish. I used very small inline spinner Walmart version of Mepps Comet but treble hook wasn't working, so I changed to a tiny inline spinner with a fuzzy bug with single hook. The small ones were able to eat it. About 4 pm we got to 60 total and began the final 10 countdown. Reached our goal around 4:30.

Don't know what goals we'll have in 2013, but we both decided it won't be total number of fish...lol

Maybe we'll focus on learning from all you senior experts on fishing crappie and walleye which we're still only beginning at..

Happy birthday Charlie, when you told me of the 2012 goal I thought that would quite of an accomplishment---gradulations---how about running for president, we need a candidate who would get the job done, an a fisherman too booth.
