    Default Milford

Where is a good, cheap place to stay close to Milford? Coming up there this Saturday to chase wipers & smallies with my dad and brother. It's a 3+ hour drive from our place in southeast KS and if we can find a place to stay for a reasonable price we would like to fish for part of the day on Sunday. Thanks.

Cheap ....and good in Junction City....well.

There are several places I would recommend as far as Motels...all of them right near Walmart off of I-70. I like the Marriot Court Yard....its where I go when the wife is mad at me.

But if you call the lake office they have some cabins as well as ACORN resort. The resort has a ramp and docks for your boat.

The only truly descent cheap place I know of is Motel 6 near Sapp Brothers Truck Stop. This is going to be your best bet and you can run straight up 77 and be at the lake in 10 minutes. The problem with Junction is that while the town has done a lot its still a GI town and I like that because I'm an old GI, it retains quite a bit of that......."Charm".

Motel 6 is right off 77 right across from my work and a lot of fisherman stay there. If there's no K-state game in Manhattan that weekend i would expect the price on the sign be posted as either 39 or 49 a night; if there's a K-State game going on then the price with be posted as either 59 or 69 a night.

Is the Bed & Breakfast still open in Wakefield? Used to be the best deal bar none over there. Same price as a cheap motel with a HOT breakfast and a sack lunch like Mom used to make, bet it's been a while, so I don't know.

Nice thing about Milford, when the wind blows you can usually find some place to hide and fish. Although, you might have to trailer the boat to one side or end of the lakeor the other.

I am going to Milford tomorrow morning and staying overnight. I am staying at the Motel 6. $60. There are a couple state park cabins left at $95 a night, but it's a 2 night minimum
