Milford Deep Troll Bite
Been fishing quite a bit lately and for me since the weather has turned the deep troll bite for wipers has been very good. Sorry no crappie, I am bummed about that but I must say I have not been chasing them much this summer. Tonight I was mainly trolling channel edges and mouths of coves picking up wiper in about 20 fow. Just been trolling large lipped deep diving crank baits with some weight on the braided line. been thinking of spooling up some lead core on my line counter Okumas trolling rigs, which I have to tell you is money well spent on trolling rigs. The have performed flawlessly all summer with heavy use. More than likely I will buy some more and lead core load them. The troll speeds are near 1.8 to 2.5.
We have been catching the top water bite when the lake is somewhat calmer and not white capping....the place I like to catch them is off the main lake and gets lots of wave action and then it makes it tough. I know in the back of several of the coves have been producing also for top water but I just like the area I fish, plus its very close to my house. When done I can just kick the kid out on the bank and he can walk up to the house or mommy will walk down and meet him so he can get ready for bed and school the next day in stead of having to go to the ramp with me and load.
I also have been using a lot of lures I bought from China and had shipped, most look just like the $5-6 ones at wally world, Cabelas, or BP shop but for no joke 5 for $4 or so shipped. Have to wait 10 days but....Most resemble Bomber lures. The top water poppers I got from them the wipers have just been hammering when the bite was on but then again, they hammer anything when when the bites is on. They have been working for me but as always everyone can do as they see fit, just thought I would mention it.
