Default Lake Lacygne Blue Catfish 07.07.2012

I went Wiper fishing today at Lake Lacygne. Drifting with shad Icaught this really nice blue cat. I was really suprised to catch a blue this big given the time of year and water temp right now at Lacygne...which was 97 degrees on the south end. This fish...as all big fish should be...was released quickly after a photo!

I have success with Blues on Milford this time of year still most of the action is after dark though in which the temps are still pretty high then also. It was still 100 degrees at 10 oclock here the other night on the lake. Were you drifting some deep water? Nice fish

    Super Nice.
Bet that cat made your drag sing like a opra singer
    Great fun.
    Congrats

OBTW..Last week while crappie fishing using ultra-lite tackle and tube jigs,
Caught 3 HUGE carp. One had to of been over 20#.
Thought I was going to bust my rod / reel blow up / run out of line.
    Now that's Fun.
    Released all

After catching that fish and several other nice cats on that trip, I returned to Lacygne yesterday with my son and his friend (pictured) to target more blues and channels. We had a really good day again. I can't go to that lake without keeping some rods rigged to be ready for wipers and white bass busting the surface...which payed off as we encountered a couple boils first thing in the morning...but the rest of the day was steady for cats with a mixed wiper and white bass mixed in. This fish was all he could handle...in the end I was happy we landed the fish and my rod and reel did not end up in the water!
