Moon Lake

I had an hour to kill so I headed to Moon lake on Ft Riley. Armed with my little 0wt Sage flyrod, I managed to catch a crappie and a bluegill(both dinks) using a #16 beadheaded pink scud! After a bit with no more action I switched to a #8 black wooly bugger and caught a small rainbow trout about 10 inches long! Fished for a few more minutes with no success before I had to leave!

Had a buddy up there fishing earlier in the day he managed to catch a few trout on doughbait and a couple of small cats.

nice going for a short amount of time and you caught a variety.WTG

Saw where MWR is having a fishing derby there I believe. Been years since I fished it but I remember pulling some small trout out of there with my fly rod using a royal coachman.

That small rainbow you caught should be tasty on the grill.............

Probably would have been but I didn't keep it, mostly practice catch and release! ( except for slabs and legal walleye of course!! )
