Default KDWP Magazine News - Hunting & Fishing Licenses

Just received a call from friend who takes the KDWP Magazine.
    He is upset.
Magazine says KDWP is asking for legislative changes that will require those over 65 to start paying for their hunting & fishing licenses.
Lucky for me I purchased my lifetime combo the first year they were offered.

I don't know if they are trying it now but if I remember right they tried that a few years ago.

Yes, I saw in the Wichita Eagle today that they are considering doing away with the free licenses for seniors. Its not been approved yet, but they are talking about it. It will be interesting to see what they do.

Of all the areas they can tax us and obtain money from us I really think making the retired folk pay for licenses is the wrong approach. If people are still hunting and fishing into their retirement age then they damn well deserve a break from paying the fees any longer. I think as Kansas residents they should be able to hunt and fish for no charge. Those of us that are still of working age should be able to cover for those that have covered for us when we were young.

Senate Bill 314 was submitted for introduction last Friday.
This bill strikes the exemption for hunting and fishing licenses for residents 65 & older.
I attempted to post a link to the bill in my post above but the link would not function for me.
If you want to view the bill, go to the kansas legislative website,
kslegislature.org and in the upper left area of the page do a bill search for 314.
This will display the PDF version of the bill.

I just read 314. The financial data with it estimates a $702,000 windfall in 2013 and get this, they double it to 1.4 mil. in fiscal 2014. Yeah I know fiscal isn't Jan to Jan but doesn't most all of the revenue occur in January. How could you stack 2 Januaries in one fiscal year? Who thinks we'll see any of that money at the lake or in the field. Not me. Hope I'm wrong.

Got an email at work from Sen. King (my rep in the senate). Long story short...he indicated that if it came to the floor he would vote NO for the legislation to charge seniors to purchase a license for fishing and hunting.
Sacred Heart of Mary, pray for us now, and at the hour of our death. AMEN
For those who believe, no explanation is necessary....for those who don't, no explanation is possible
For the sake of his sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and the whole world
