    Default Finally went ice fishing

Went to Mille Lacs this past weekend. We didn't't catch squat. But I had a blast fishing with my cousin and her husband. A lot like crappie fishing...got caught up with what has been going on the last few years since our last get together...tipped a few beers and watched the flasher for some activity below...
Gonna be getting my own auger and hut this weekend. Hopefully can post about yanking some crappies or wallies through the ice soon....Yearning for some open water gotta admit

    Sounds like fun.
My bother-in-law live 15 min. from Mille Lacs - He has been going to "RedLake (I think..about a 3 hour north)".
Comming home with their limit of walleyes..They have had to throw back lots over the 17" slot size...
He has had good luck on some jigging spoons I made him.

My cousin's husband had been to Lake of the Woods the weekend before with his workers and they slaughtered the walleyes and saugers...But it is 8 hours from my place. I might have to place an order for some of your spoons. I have heard of Red Lake. It received a lot of attention for it's massive crappies a few years ago when the commercial fisherman had about wiped out the walleye population. It sounds like the limits they placed upon the commercial fishers has paid off for anglers.
