    Default Fiberglass repair

Was out tinkering around in the boat today thinking about putting a new keel guard on and found a big scrape on the bottom pretty much through the gel coat. Any recommendations on where to take in NE KS? Already had a few other nicks, so might as well get her cleaned up. Guess that's what insurance is for.

If I am not mistaken I thought that Lakeside marine in Topeka did fiberglass repair. Actually I just looked it up and found this, Lakeside Marine Service, INC. I have had good luck with them in the past on other things but I do not know anything about their fiberglass repair first hand.

Yeah found that earlier...might give em a shot...can have them get the Merc a look over too before my warranty is up.

Heard some good feedback on a couple places in MO and a guy down in El Dorado , but that's a bit of a trip.

I would stay away from Lakeside. They don't have a good reputation around the area for anything. I live in Topeka area and still take my boat to Cabelas or Smithville to get it worked on.

I would definitely go with Arnie's just N of Lawrence. I have used him for a number of years with good results. They are honest and do good work. Ask to speak to Keith.

Thanks for the heads up on Lakeside. Didn't realize Arnies did fiberglass work. Will have to look into that.

I know Arnie's will do some minor fiberglass stuff - at least they would a few years ago. Lately, I haven't had an need for glass work. If he doesn't do it any more, he will send you to someone who will. I have been dealing with them for 14 years and I am very satisfied - their prices are very reasonable - AND they are VERY honest.

I have delt with Keith at Arnie's several times since he does the Clinton Lake marina boat repairs on Thursdays so I meet him there when I have needed work on my outboard.
Keith has always treated me fairly and is a lot easier to talk with than Arnie.

Keith is more personable than Arnie - but both are good guys. As I mentioned, I have dealt with them for about 15 years and I have never been disappointed. I used to trailer my boat down to the Gulf every year or so. When I fish there, I am often 5-10 miles offshore (sometimes further) in a 17' center console. Before I leave Kansas I always have Keith tune up and check out my engine. I know I can trust him and he does good work. I wouldn't trust many folks like that.

Chad theres a Merc mechanic ( authorized ) in St Joe. Its Savanna Marine and I gotta say this guy is brillant. Can't fix the glass but he's amazing on Merc motors and boat maintenence. I drive 80 miles and he's worth every one. Might or might not be too far for you.
