Had another sucessful evening of catching wipers and whites around the once island (lake is down 2 ft.), north of the beach at clinton. Pound for pound these fish are very strong and just a blast to catch. Trolling using crank baits until we see shad busting the surface. When the shad are pushed on top about anything can catch these feeding fish. Rattle traps, little george, thin fins. Dawn and dusk have been the best. We haven't been keeping any hybrids becouse they don't reproduce in hoping to catch larger fish in the future.![]()

Thanks for the info. I may get to try it this weekend or early next week.

Was that you in a deck boat yesterday, Friday, morning? I was drifting shad sides by the island yesterday for catfish but only caught a 18 inch wiper E.N.E. of the island. The NW wind picked up around 4 so we called it quits.
No that wasn't me, The post was for Thursday evening, went again Friday evening with similar results
What type of crank bait are you trolling with?
Jointed shad rap # 5 have been consistantly the best. We use the # 7 when the fish are out deeper. Trolling speed is around 2.2 mph +-. Good luck
