I know this is a crappie forum but, just curious on how tasty the white bass are, I have talked to so many folks that say they are not good and you have to take this out and do all these different things to make them taste good. I have gave my Dad plenty and he has never complained. The reason for this post is I was crappie fishing this afternoon at a favorite creek and thats all I could catch and some nice ones. The day before I caught alot of nice keeper crappie. Thanks for reading.

They are ok, but not as good crappie, like Jim said cut all red meat away. They have a fishy taste to them, but tasty.
The meat texture is different so I kinda struggle with that but alot of folks love em. They can all of mine.
I always cut all the red meat out before cooking. If you do that, the fish is delicious..Thumbs Up
I used to fish for them, with friends, up in the wakie off Green road in the riffles w/road runners. Man what a blast! Everybody has moved away now & haven't done it for several years. Used to be one of my favorite things to do. We had fish frys. Like everyone said, when your cleaning them & flip the fillet over, just don't hold the blade close to the skin , like you normally would, & alot of the red meat stays on the skin. We used to call it Kansas trout fishing because you can see them swimming up the raffles & catch them in the pools.
Don't lie, There's less you have to remember
Thank you folks for your suggestions. Now Im cathing some nice crappie again up those same creeks, so I guess it might be next spring before I try the white bass for eating. But, I will remember the tips. Thanks again.
Dont bother if you have Crappie to eat!!!
