    Smile Clinton Lake 3/24/11

Ron in his boat and Doug in mine fished Clinton today. Fairly brisk north easterly wind caused us to fish some submerged trees in sheltered area early on. Bite was very slow so we ventured out in a more open area on deeper channel and edges. We began marking lots of fish catching them on very regular basis for over three hours in an area less than the size of a football field.

We really didn't intend to keep any but I bloodied the 6 pounder weighing it so we ended up keeping four.

A couple three years ago Ron and I had got into the hybrids but then they were only sized like large whites. We tried to get back into them with out any success until today. These are fat healthy critters now.

What a hoot catching them on our long crappie rods and hanging tandem jigs in their midst. Finally quite using two rods since we couldn't just leave the other hanging while bringing in fish on the other rod and risk having the free rod pulled overboard.

The crappie sure didn't want to cooperate for us but anyhow what a fun day on the water with good friends.

They a hoot, on a ten foot light crappie pole they feel like you have hooked onto a train. To bad crappie don`t get as big and pull as hard. Looking forward to saying high to them again.

What a fun fishing day those wipers pull like crazy and one of us was almost always fighting a fish in that 3 hour stretch and we had the whole area to ourselves. BTW Lee your big fish (23ins. and 6+lbs.) had a 6in. and a 4in. crappie in her stomach plus a good size shad, they are eating machines! I'm going to cook some tonight in the oven, I know they can't be as good as crappie but maybe decent table fare and I did cut out all the red meat.( I'm open to any suggestions on how to cook them) And Huntcapn I thought we were friends and you go and compare me to that LIBERAL, HOLLYWEIRD SEAN PENN man that hurts...I'm gettin some new sunglasses and some new friends.......
FAITH, FAMILY, FRIENDS & FISHING...... hopefully in that order but honestly, not always!
