    Default Flashabou Minnow Body

This gives me a ton of ideas. Anyone else experimenting with this? Downsize the concept for panfish and crappies.

I'll check out the links later, but I had a ton of success in a private pond for largemouths and a few crappie on a simple fly, #2-6, tie in flashabou, about 1/2" past the bend, leave it long enough on the hook eye end to fold back over, tie on a clouser eye or use stick on eyes, then fold it back over. Use a olive or black marker to make a dark colored back. Worked great with pearl.

I would have used something more fancy if my tying skills at the time were where they are now, but I had just started tying.

I watched that episode and had a similar thought with tinsel, have some wide stuf that I'm not sure what to do with... watched it on a saturday morning and forgot all about it by night time when I tie. Thanks for the reminder! Headed to the bench. :D

I don't know what is wrong, but it takes a very long time to download the video tonight for me so I have no idea what you are talking about.

Okay now today I can see the videos and yes I have some of that flashabou stuff in different sizes to use several different ways.

Can do similar things with mylar tubing. I have tied some over beads to give a kinda nice body to them. The over all jig/fly sucks but the body is nice.

I think that you can extent the tubing over the jig head to cover the whole body with the stuff. Haven't tried yet but may have to just to see what it does and if it can be done.

The flashabou minnow body looks even easier to work with and might be much better than mylar for doing it.

My original idea was using this stuff to make spoon flies. Had it for a long time and just have not got around to doing that, but I do want to very bad.

Also intend on making some jigs with it too.

    Those are unbelievable.

Why do you say the overall jig sux? They look really nice to me.

I am not happy with them because the tie offs look terrible and the tail is ugly. Can't get the bead and mylar close enough to the jig head for my liking. But I am too critical anyway and I am sure they will work as is.

I also have a bunch of spoon blanks I can try this on when I have time too. Good ideas ship and skip. Will have to see if the mylar works as well or not on a sppon blank.
