    Default Zonker strip?


    Being a newbie to tieing, what is a zonker strip?
    I went to a club once..............but then that was
    a different kinda strip!

    It's a strip of rabbit fur you tie in skin and all. I haven't had much luck with the crappie with them yet, don't have many colors myself, but they work well with smallies! Skip should give more info on these, I believe he is partial to them on his r-runners.

    Can be rabbit or Arctic Fox as well as a few others. I like the stuff, but like the cross cut better or using both a zonker and crosscut together.

    Zonker is straight cut and is just that while cross cut is cut across the rabbit instead of long wise and the hair comes off the skin different and is used to wrap around the shank making a skirt effect.

    What Skip said, I only use a few for tying smallmouth jigs but not as many as Skip does.
