Need help with split ring pliers

Boy is somebody in a chipper mode today, you know grub if you pierce your finger nails and insert a split ring than after that is done attach one of your jigs to each split ring you could have your very own traveling jig display holders.

What yea think good idea you could call it maybe GRUB'S 10 FINGER'S OF KILLER JIG'S kind of catchy. Heck you could take it one step further and paint all the available colors right on your nails.

I just might have to trade mark that idea for future use... :D:D:D:D

When it comes to split rings I have tried just about everything. Split ring pliers, fingernails, you name it, and through ALOT of trial and error I will share what works for me. Take a pair of small needle nose pliers and grab the split ring just above where the wire begins and ends. Take the blade in your free hand,turn it on its edge and slide it in between the wires on the ring. Turn the blade where the hole will start on the ring, thus opening the ring up. Before you move the blade on around put the swivel ring right behind it and you can kill two birds with one trip. Just rotate the pliers and hold the blade and swivel in place and before you know it...YOU ARE CONNECTED!!!! I can put a blade and swivel on a bait with this method before I could chase a split ring down with a pair of split ring pliers...lol...after I dropped it in the floor for the 4TH TIME!!!!....I hope this helps...Good Fishin'....GF

I do a similar procedure (blade on the side, attach swivel at same time),
although I have scratched a few blades doing this. I don't know how
many I've launched through the room to never be found again!! I think
they are all together where I launch bail springs, small screws and keeper
washers!!!

I'm gonna try those Xuron pliers anyway!! I've already spent 10 million
dollars on my hobbies, ha, ha what's another ten bucks?

I always turn the inside of the blade toward the floor so only the edge rubs against the wire..That helps with the scratchin'....lol. When it comes to the FLYIN' SPRINGS AND THINGS, get you a old towel and fold it over your hands before you take out the final screw...or in a tub of water will work as well...lol.

Same here....if I cant find it I will make it eventually lol

I am like Grousefly, as I have done about everything there is to do with the split rings. Since I have the Xuron pliers, I have no problem with even the smallest rings. They are well worth the price.

For letting us know about these pliers ... they really work and I have one of just about every kind (with the cheap o Worth .. was the best).. Are you seeing much wear with the ones you have ???
