Smile A Crappie Time to Tie

Sat down with some fur and feather this evening to try a few new (to me) jig ties. Each is tied on a 1/16th oz. lead head with a #6 hook.

Under-wrapped the bodies with white, orange, and lime-colored thread. Used a Kreinik metallic thread to over-wrap the bodies. Provides an interesting shimmer, I think, for the middle jig in the photo especially. It's fun to work with two bobbins per jig.

Crappie will be the ultimate judges however.

I picked up on the basis for this tying method I believe, in part, from a very accomplished jig tyer located in SoCal.

No more bass jig tying for about a month. :p

I like the orange color combo should do good.

I like all of them. The funky thread body should be a killer! I have never seen metallic thread. Thanks for sharing. Hope to see some catch pics soon!

Thanks for the kind words Guys.

Tied a few more this afternoon.

Used gold, black, orange, lime green, and burgundy thread under-wraps.

Next, it's time to fish them.

1.5 inches is an excellent size to catch Crappies. Those will work nicely. The black, silver and grey one is a winner. You are doing nicely and the fish will tell you so.
