Kip tail supply

Do you guys have a preferred supplier of good quality kip tail?

I've been getting mine from crazy angler which I think sells wapsi brand? Is there any difference in the hareline vs wapsi?

I like kip but get put out with ordering it online sight unseen only to get tails where much of the hair is to short for my liking.

I only have one store in my area that sells tying supplies and often they don't have what I need.

I think the difference in brands is more in color shades than quality, but I know what you mean about bad lengths. I would suggest trying to get your local shop to order some for you, if they know you're willing to buy some they may order a few of each of the colors you want so you can pick through them. Also you can check chuckanddebs they have mad river brand and all those have been good tails for me.

I just did a fishing flea market and a guy had 10 for 20 dollars. I bought them all. Perhaps you may have one in your area. Also got a dozen plus tails at a trappers show last year for a dollar each. At these prices I can use almost anything. I tie flys as well as jigs so the shorter hair comes in handy. Only thing I look at is how much black and or brown comes from the base. Seems I do not use a lot of dark colors!
