    Default My shrimpies

Well they aren't small but they do look like a sand shrimp. Don't know for sure how well they will work for crappie but I sure am gonna give them a try since fishing for them opens earlier than steelhead. Maybe a bass or two will hit them also. I imagine they look like something that the crappie will eat.

I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

That orange chartreuse jig should catch some crappie.

I have to say that I'm pretty impressed. I'd also like to know how you tied those little buggers. Give us the scoop man, you can't keep this secret to yourself forever. The fishie gods will be upset with your greediness. hehe. Nice looking jigs though man. Bet they'll catch some crappie.

If I could get a good picture of them you would see there are 2 colors of lace on each one. The left ones are Larva Lace, the right ones are Body stuff. Not that it matters really. I am gonna make some in a blood red for leech and worm patterns with brown and olive marabou. Should be killer for bass and crappie

Same crochet I have used for years, even posted the link to how to do it. :D

The enlarged instruction for Fly Crocheting

There it is again. Is rather simply to "do" but not so simple to "use". It is easier with say embroidery floss or other floss but with the lace I use it is a little tougher. These are actually brand new additions in I have finally found a way to make them lighter using a bead instead of lead wrap. It also makes the entire thing very transparent so light is gonna shine all the way through them without much resistance.

    Materials:
    #2 1/8 ounce jig head
Larva lace or Body stuff from Hagens
    Orange thread
    spaghetti bead
    marabou

Put a base of thread down in whatever color you want to use. The cut the bead with a hobby saw lengthwise to the middle so you can slip it on over the hook shank. The thread is there to hold the bead from turning too much. Tie in the body material at the bend of the hook. Tie thread off. Then crochet it to within 1/4-1/2 inch form the jig head. Tie in thread again and tie in some marabou on the point side of the hook. Tie off thread. Finish crochet to where you want it and tie it off. If you use the lace material leave tag ends so you can wrap in front of and behind them to lock them in. Whip finish the daylights out of it. I do 3 whip finishes of 4 to 5 wraps just to make the lace will stay put.

And have fun doing it because if you can't have fun with them you won't make them very long.

FFA, the see thru jelly body looks killer ! Looks more like a winged bug tho, is it possible to tie in the fluff on the reverse side to resemble legs ?

I can add almost anything anywhere to these. Sides, back, belly, head, tail and everywhere in between. Just a matter of doing it. Legs, wings, claws, tails, and most other things can be added in some sort to them.
