Default Brushes for multi-color jig heads

Question for all you guys that use PP for multi-color jig heads. What do you use to apply the different colors? If you use brushes what kind of brushes are you using? If you have other methods of applying multiple colors of PP to the heads what are they?

I see allot of multi-color heads on here and they are really good want to give it a try but need to know what I need before I jump into this.

I just got a package of those cheap art brushes you can find at wall-mart in there school supply isle. They work ok for sprinkling on the second color. I dont do no where near as detailed 6 color stuff like flatfish and others do though.

Do you need a brush for every color that you are going to apply or can you use the same brush?

started painting some pony heads and figured it might be easier to paint them by brush instead of just dipping them and then having to go back and clean the barrel swivel off so that the blade will spin freely. Cant think of any other way to prevent the barrel swivel from becoming ceased up with paint when you dip them into the PP.

what I learned from skip or someone anyway is to wrap the swivel in aluminum foil and after you dip it take foil off. it works great just a pain in the butt. try that.

    Thumbs up Brushes

I use those cheaper brushes .. but am looking to see if there might be an even better ones to use ...I Use a different brush for each color ... they clean easy ... blow and flick it a couple of times and it is ready for the next go round.

Any one found a better brush ?? I may have to do some testing.

Doc Crappie and all, here are some answers to your questions. I have been doing 6 color powder paint since 2005 this does not include a glitter coat and a clear coat. 1st of all you can not put (6) separate visible colors on a 1/16 or even an 1/8 oz round jig. Your (6) colors come into play when you are blending color over color to achieve an effect. Many of these colors have to be candies or transluscents to get the desired effect. You can also use opaques as your base coat and build from there until you finish with the top of the jig. With that said, your minnow bodies, ultra-minnows and other flat sided jigs about 3/16 oz and up are ideal candidates. As far as what brush to use, I use a #4 soft hair camel brush, to put on my powder paint on all multi-colored jigs. What I do is dip the brush in powder paint, apply it on your jig, blow out the powder paint out of your brush with your mouth(don't spit on it), dip it into the next color and so on and so on. One brush does it all for me. You can use a #2 brush if you want to achieve less paint on the jig. I know Ledhed uses the same or similar method I use, and he will probably chime in. I personally would like to see other members who do 6 color application of paint. I'm curious who all does it, and if they are willing to show me some of their work. Some of my stuff and Ledheds' is in this post http://www.crappie.com/crappie/jig-t...h-pp-jigs.html...................If you want more info on how I do my powder painting PM me..............
