Chenille What is the difference

Just so you know Danville skeins are 72 yards and not much different than what you paid for that. Not that is matters, but regular chenille is a very good price if bought at Danville. It a good bit more for specila ones, but still less per yard than the $3 you spoke of. Can't recall the exact price right now. I have even sold a good bit from time to time for not much different than the $3 for the 30 yards. I don't remember the exact price I sold it for, but something like $6 for 72 yards.

Usually if someone orders when I do and I get them some chenille it is less than that. Of course shipping has to be added, but the price per yards is good for anyone that ever got any from me.

My memory was foggy about the cost of the Rozetti Velvet. I checked later on and found that I purchased it on sale for $0.99 per 33-yard skein.

The Velvet's color patterns are what intrigued me the most.

Pup where do you get the Rozetti Velvet (6-wt), Lion Brand Suede, and Westrim elastic cord?

Like the idea of using Westrim elastic cord for legs – can mark them up for different colors and cinch down with out cutting through it.

That is much better deal than your memory gave. I have never tried Velvet Chenille, but fly tying Velvet Chenille I have only really seen at a couple of places and it wholesales for about what you paid, but only 5 yards. I do not know what it would sell for in skeins.

A question for you though, what is it you like about the Velvet? Also does yours sparkle? What I am looking at trying says this chenille sparkles like no other. So please tell me what is the difference in what you have and fly tying Velvet Chenille that sparkles? Maybe it is just the picture, but I don't see sparkle in yours?? I just want to know if all is equal and should I take a look next time I get to a place that has crafts since I live in the stix.

Any info will be a help as I plan on trying some of this.

I purchased the Rozetti Velvet at Herrschner's of Stevens Point, WI. They offer many intriguing yarns periodically and this is one of them, so it pays to check their web site frequently. :)

Lion Brand Suede can be found at most any midwestern fabric and craft store. However, the colors are limited. I tie mainly for bass, so the available colors are useful to me. Department stores carry it too.

Westrim elastic cord is available at a wide variety of midwestern department stores within their craft departments.

Please let me know your thoughts about cinching the elastic cord. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to.

I tie primarily for myself and a few friends of mine. Most are multi-species anglers or bass fishermen. I use the Velvet to tie patterns that might be useful when fish are feeding actively. The majority of the fish species are bass.

I like the Velvet because I believe it emulates colors belonging to many of the sunfish family and the roe of steelhead. Adult bass, particularly largemouths, often cannibalize their young. I tie believing that this might be an advantage to some.

The Velvet that I'm familiar with doesn't sparkle. However, the Caron Glimmer that I mentioned does. I purchase it at Wal-Mart, but only on clearance. My picture may not reflect the glitter, since I used a light box and my camera isn't as good as some others for that type of lighting effect. However, what yarn I've found will be useful for walleye and steelhead.
