I may not sure I know what type jig you are talking about. About a half of the jigs I make I try to think they look like minnows!:D lol

I have seen some from web sites and companies but I want to see those that members have tied and used. I have never made them and would really like to know how if anyone has some basic instructions and I can't figure it out from the pictures.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

If you are talking about those that have the minnow head style jig head, i have tied some in the past, but dont have any pics. I just use craft hair on mine, just like the ones you see on float-n-fly jigs. Have you saw the ones on Punisher jigs web site, that is what i am talking about.
I guess I am just looking for different ideas for different patterns. The main bait fish here is a pea mouth chub. Not flashy by any means but rather plain and not bright. I think there are some bait fish that match the shiny flashy patterns but I don't see them in local lakes.
That and I am a glutton for punishment and will probably pick the hardest ones to tie and try that one!

posted some pics. in#5 swap for you Fish_4_all of some minnows.
When I think of minnow jigs I think of the one in my signature. A realistic imitation of a minnow. I guess I just make things too complicated is all.

ah you want to make a clozer minnow <bottom pic> top pic is done with poxy or milar tubein
now the clozer can be done a few ways the one in the pis they used flex seal or what ever its called to make it hold the eyes and the look but can be done by tying the eyes to the hook and use hair

I just want to make minnows. I thought that those were considered minnows but I see from the ones flatfish posted that a minnow is different than I thought. Once again, making it too complicated but no one knows anything about proper patterns here for crappie. They just throw cheap Wally world jigs and hope to catch fish.

That's one thing I love about doing this, there is no "proper" pattern, crappie aren't salmon or steelies. I believe for crappie the key is more on curiosity than realisim. Color and movement are the most important things, we might be fishing with 6" of underwater visibility so the fish have to see the thing. There was a post on the main board not too long back where a guy was using yarn attached to a hook with a split shot... and doing good with it. Check out FAOL, they have many fly patterns to view.
