Latest examples of exercises in futility. This is not a hobby for a perfectionist . How ever the fish in the neighbors pond thought that they were quite edible.

The fish really care about very little, in the way of lures and reality. It's often said of soft plastics and cranks that a lure that slightly resembles the real bait may catch more fish than the realistic interpretations. Same is true with jigs and flies. Jigs with little detail often work well. I was told by a very seasoned fisherman, that jigs don't need eyes, don't need bulk and they are mostly concerned with size and very general profile.
He also did add, that from his personal experimenting, weight may work in your favor as it seems the lighter the jig the better. He used soft plastic grubs of the same size and color, just used them on different weights and found the bass took the grubs much more frequently when used on a lighter jighead. All said and done, you are doing well and are making some interesting jigs. Good fishing, Mac
Something about making jigs, the more you get into it, the more interesting it gets. In lieu of the above, I tie just two weights, 1/16 and 1/8.
The more you practice, the better you will get. Keep asking yourself "Are we having fun yet?" The answer is always yes when you do something you like to do.

as is said "Better to fish with the wrong lure in the right place than the right lure in the wrong place", not that your fishing with the wrong lure. I dont think crappie are all that picky but we all get sucked into lures that catch fishermen rather than fish at times. simplify and practice. I almost thought that first one was tarred and feathered:p. I usually stick to plastics because they are easy and catch fish.

Looks are the last measure, the first is if they catch fish.
