    Default trolling depths and speed

I remember about a year ago Kelly Mathews posted speed and depths jigs ran. I can't find that post anymore. Anyone know where it is?? I need to figure out if I troll two 1/32oz jigs in around 6 foot of water how much I need to bump my speed up. How much deeper will two run instead of one. Thought I would try a tandem tomorrow when I go

There are rules of thumb, but it's gonna also depend on the diameter of the line, the length of line you put out, and what you tip the jigs with. Twisters run shallower than tubes and tubes run shallower than stingers, etc. Generally, a 16th with a twister tail at about .7mph on 6 pound test only runs about 9' for me with 50-70' of line out. 2 1/16 jigs seem to run about 14'.

I want the bottom jig to run just off bottom, so whatever rig I'm running, I just pitch it out and let line out until it ticks the bottom, then wind in a few feet. If that doesn't work, I wind up a few more feet and keep on doing it until I hit fish. After that, put it on the bottom than crank it up the requisite number of cranks.
