fancy paints

I have been seeing alot of these fancy paint jobs lately. I also hear some saying that you use a brush to get the 2nd color on there.

Do you run the jig under the flame and dip it for the base coat, and then use a small brush dipped in a 2nd powder and "paint" it on while the jig is still hot, or how does that work?

You can probably PM cadman and get a pdf formatted tutorial.

I use a temperature controlled heat gun to reheat the jig to apply the powder paint.
You dip the brush into fluffed up paint and then sprinkle the paint over the heated jigs. I do the sides first, and then the top and bottom last. Reheat the jig to add colors. Trick here is to only reheat enough to get the paint to adhere. When you reheat watch the other colors – you don’t want them to “shine” too much – that comes with the cure. Clean the eye before you cure the jig. You can apply as many colors as you want but after 6 colors….

Dayooper’s video is pretty much the same process.

Get yourself some hemostats to hold your jigs while you are painting.

Before starting - I lay out my colors with a dedicated brush on a glass top (easy clean up) away from my hot air gun. My preference for brushes is camel hair – actually you can probably use any type brush. Make-up brushes are also a good choice – better for the larger jigs.
