Need advice
Here is something I done today still learning so tell me what I need to do.Pic is rough since was taken with a cell phone.

You can take a pair of small end cutters and cut the collars off before you tie them. It does help. Also I would use a little less maribou. Check out some of Skip and Ship's maribou jigs for ideas. They look good these are just suggestions for the futuree.

Remember "less is more". Keep experimenting and you will get it. You could leave the collar on if you use thread as the body like you have done. If you use chenille, it would make the body rather big. I started with the store bought jigs myself, but have since moved to the collarless heads. It does help, however, to cut the collar. As a matter of fact I used a few for an experiment last night and I am pleased with the results. Not sure I would be accepted for showing them off since they are more for Bluegill than Crappie (You must beg to see them Ha Ha Ha).

fowlmood77 Well, you said one must beg to see your efforts on the bluegill jig. lol I love seeing others efforts for jigs that are to be used as gill food.
As for the less is better note. I certianly agree there. I constantly fight using too much material. A quick tie on a line and move through the water for a test will show why less is better. ole Mike

I think ya had to use that much marabou to cover the collar all the way around, you wont have that problem with the collarless head.
