Default Glow in the dark flashabou ?

I bought some flashabou in my latest supply order.
I included a bit of this in a few jigs I made last night. I usually hang my jigs on a pegboard when finished to let the cement dry. When I was done for
the night I flipped off the light before I left the room . The effect was very
dramatic. You could see every jig I had used this material very distinctly.
Even if I only used a few strands.
I have not had a chance to try these jigs out. Has anybody had success
or failure with such materials ? Should be good in deep water , dirty water
or low light conditions. Or will they just spook the fish ?

    good luck

they will be good in those conditions when the light is low. It will make them stand out. The fish will take notice and give it a closer look. I have caught several crappie on phosphorescent strands in thw twilight of morning and night.

The biggest problem with them is if youre selling them almost noone will buy them cause of the stranding. A lot of old timers are afraid of different.

I like to use that material on some of my personal jigs, especially if I know I am tying jigs for darker water of for some evening of fishing. It gives off a nice "moonglow and waving" effect in darkened conditions.

For night fishing they're the ticket, especially if you tip the jig with a minnow.

Actually I have done better during the day, not sure what time of day, but as long as you have water that is not crystal clear and fishing more then 10' down I think it works. Not sure it really works better then non glowing jig though. I think it's just the time you try them and if the fish are receptive to that then you will catch fish on them.

Sometimes I don't get bit using my glow jigs and I think they just don't want them then, but other timer I think you can do very well. Last year one of my bigger fish came on a glow jig with dark green hackle tail, no flash or anything else. He was a little over 17" and got him about 12' down late morning sun up and not cloudy.
