    when i bought my vice i noticed it has a spring that is just below the clamps that hold the hook. can anyone tell me what it is for? i have never seen it used in any videos and no one has ever mentioned it that i have heard from

    It's for holding longer strands of materials out of the way that will be used later in the (jig or fly) pattern.
