I just baked my first jig heads today. I used the times from the sticky. My Fl Pink came out a dark Maroon color. Am I doing something wrong or ? All the colors came out darker.

I believe it was 375 for 15 min. I will try your recommendation and see what happens. I am using a cheap old toaster oven.
I don't have any trouble with my colors changing except like the Fl Red comes out a lot darker, but as it cools down the color come back to being right. Some other do that as well, but don't stay or change to another color like you had happen.
I use a full size oven for most of my baking and have a toaster oven if I am not doing many or if the time is different on some when doing several colors I put the lower heat items in the toaster oven.

i use powder paint an d a simple method. you dont have to bake it in an oven. i use a heat gun to heat the head(about 12 seconds). then dip the head into the powder paint and tap of any excess. then heat the head again with the heat gun (about 12 seconds) then dip the head into a cup of water. it works great and doesnt take long to finish a head that way.
Sounds like an overcook to me.

hey bigfish5 i do my heads the same way you do but if you bake them the paint will not come off. the reason for baking the paint on is to make the paint as hard as possible. believe me you cant beat the paint off with a hammer after baking, but without baking its not really that hard to get the paint off
