Hi guys, Ive been reading about making jigs, and just started this weekend. Wanted to post what i had made so you guys can check em out, and let me know what you think and how i can make em better. I live in west central pa so if anyone knows of some good colors for that area as well, that would be helpful. Let me know thanks

you might want to shorten up the jig closer to the hook to keep you from getting short srtuck. that was a big mistake i made but i found out the hard way. other than that they look good. they will only get better. keep up the good work! do you powder paint your own heads or are they pre painted?

Once you start tying, you are hooked as well as the fish. Look in this forum at this thread http://www.crappie.com/gr8vb3/showthread.php?t=49489 or this one http://www.crappie.com/gr8vb3/showthread.php?t=54380 .

You might get a few more ideas. For a jig to catch more crappie. IMHO, I would shorten the tail a smidgeon so that it extends no more tham 1/8 to 1/4 inch past the hook. This stops a lot of short strikes. They look real good for just starting out though and will catch you some Crappie. I also like a two colored tail sometimes, to give those finicky crappie something else in a color choice.

They look fine to me. Only thing for me is I like a shorter tail. Hold the marabou at the head and pull it back til its to the end of the hook, then cut off and tie in. Quick, easy, and consistant. But if you want long tails there's nothing wrong with them either. Good job.

Nothing to say that hasnt already been said. Looks good and shorten the tail to prevent short strikes, but if you like a longer tail, then thats fine too.

hey thanks alot guys for the info, i thought the tails were alittle too long, but they looked pretty so i kept them like that. nice thing is thats easy to fix. Ill check out the site, and attempt some 2 colored tails, and see what else i can figure out. thanks alot guys

PS. i used vinyl paint for the heads. I just bought some powder paint on ebay havent gotten it yet, so once i get that i will powder coat and use the vinyl for the eyes. the vinyl gives you a headache so im looking forward to the powder.

For a newbe, very good, mine weren't. Looks like you took the time to tie them neatly. I would also say tails are a little long. Keep up the good work and enjoy yourself.

if you like tying jigs you will love powder painting the heads, you get to do different things with them also sutch as, adding eyes or two toning your heads. if you havn't done it before just make sure you bake them after you put on the paint. keep up the good work.
