I would imagine that it would depend on what you are targeting. I've done well on sizeable gills w Grizzly jigs in a brown pattern trolling slowly w/float tube just off the bottom. Mike

Does anyone ever tie brown into their jigs? I have some ice chenille that has kind of a brown/orange color.

For some reason this time of year I have a lot of success using all brown jigs. I know some guys that use brown year round and do very well with it.
Brown and chartreuse is a nice pattern.

I have several jigs tied using Brown, but just have not been fishing in a couple of months. First I got busy and then it's just too cold foe me to get my old tail out there fishing. Soon though It will be right.
Couple of pics...

I use a lot of brown. Not so much during the winter but spring-late fall a brown/blue or brown/pink does a good job on our clear, deep lake...

An all brown jig is good for Gills, Yellow Perch and Smallies, looks like a crawdad.
What vise do you use, Skip?

I use brown quite a bit on the river down here. I like using natural colors a lot. Here's one of mine that does well. The pupil got smudged a bit but the fish don't care.
And here's one on a speckled head I use.
green chartreuse and pumpkin brown/coffee brown/green chartreuse
