Hey Jim,
I might have some for ya! I don’t have as much as others but it’s the thought that counts right?

I will try to keep this post in mind as I duck hunt and usually get several gadwalls a season. I am in Jefferson City, Missouri so I can get them to you pretty easily free of charge as they get thrown in the trash when cleaning the ducks anyway. I can also supply some others both drakes and hens as well like mallard, blue wing teal, shovelers, etc. I will check back with you when season starts this fall.
I wouldn’t mind getting some if possible. I’d love to try making some duck feather jigs like Jim.
There is a video on you tube of me tying with duck feathers. Had a guy come all the way from Maryland to see how I tied them and fish as well in 2009. He tied them pretty good by the time he left. Fishing wasn't great, rained all but two days that he was here. Drake Gadwall flank feathers are fantastic, same with teal and pintail but those feathers are smaller so only use them with smaller jigs. I have plenty of mallard flank and would send some to anyone who wants to tie some. They are deadly, catch everything on them. Great bait fish imitation.
Here you go.

Hadn't seen that video for awhile. Thought I did pretty good for my first video. And no bad words. There is a spine on every feather and I slip the feather on where it aligns with the hook shank so it's straight when I tie in. I like the flash to be slightly longer than the duck feathers so some flash is showing in the tip of the tail. Don't need opossum in the throat area. Can use marabou, bunny hair, etc. Something with a little contrast. Sometimes use a couple wraps of palmer chenille at the throat. They all will work or skip it. Just try it, you'll like it.
Very good video Dave I like the background music.
Enjoyed the post. What good people we have on C.c.
