Well I got 12 1/2# after melting my scrap lead down and poured. Everything on hold right now till this weather calms down some. Looks like tomorrow will be cleaning up the yard day. Dang wind ain’t playing around.

Not the best looking lead I’ve ever fooled with. Definitely won’t be used in muzzleloader
Couldn’t stand it so I’m melting it all down again. Apparently the plumbers lead was way more dirty than I thought or realize. The cast net lead was surprisingly the cleanest.
So now I’ll move on to pouring jigs. My wife thinks the garden is the busy time of the year but fall and winter is my not enough days to get it all done time. Hunting and fishing takes up more hours than my body can keep up with. But I’ll try

Both of those leads have a lot of foreign material and bullet leads has hardeners in it too. I use that lead primarily when pouring large jigs or pencil weights. You may also have to clean the nozzle more often on your pouring pot.
Just poured 120 jigs. That’s all the upright time my body can stand. I’ll clean them up and try to get that many done tomorrow.
As far as lead for bullets I don’t use lead with hardener’s in my muzzle loader. PRB need to be made of 99% lead or higher. That lead comes from a special order and doesn’t get used for nothing but for my muzzleloader.
RJR, I may have miss spoke on the bullet lead. We used alloy lead when pouring high power rifle rounds in the eighties and nineties to hold shape on long shots. I'm sure times have changed and my old self has not evolved too well. No long shots shots for me as I have a hard time seeing across the yard. LOL
RJR, Sorry to hear about your sister-in-laws husband. I lost my brother many years ago that way. Being half way around the world in a time before cell phones and personal computers didn't help in the communication dept. either. Prayers sent. We also need to take care of ourselves, as their maybe replacements for limbs, but back replacements haven't arrived yet, LOL. Take care, and great looking jigs...
