My skill set with tying jigs is still a work in progress, but I don’t mind sharing my new design with you.

Used my new fluid bed to paint an aspirin head 1/16 oz jig, then added a nail polish eye. The hook on these is very aggressive. Both paints are highly UV reflective, and the two colors together look great when lit up.

Then I added the four legged rubber skirting material and lashed down two of the carwash mitten thingies. Which also reflect UV. So now I have bright orange, bright yellow and lime green colors all glowing.

I have been doing well with my UV enhanced homemade jigs and intend to continue that whole experiment while adding other things too. The mitten thingies will soak up scents, and that is next on my list of experiments. I had tried Slab Sauce in the original bottle but was like all thumbs with it. So I poured the spray bottle into a plastic vial and dipped with it. Much better but made a huge mess on the boat. Now I have rigged the vials to where they are secure and hung over the side of the boat where the drippings drop in the water.

I ordered the carwash mittens because they SHOULD suck up more sauce during the dip. I formed up a one wash mitten thingie jig but it looked thin. This is a two thingie jig and it looks like it will hold and deliver scent much better than a single.

Twin Diesels

We all know crappie can bite very lightly and it is very easy to miss the take. I’m thinking adding scents will trick them into holding on just a split second longer as they will wish to taste the things, what they can smell, before spitting it back out. Fish grow up with a highly developed ability to spit. This because while in the learning process of what is food, what is not food, they took in many things that needed to be spit back out, not swallowed. When you are eating a burger, if there is a small bone chip in it.....you spit. This is very quick and automatic because you learned the food not food routine. Well a fish’s skill set is very highly developed, far more than a modern man’s is and I wish to lessen their ability to spit my jigs quickly.

So I add visual clues (UV) to get noticed and scents ( Slab Sauce ) to get a commitment.
