A couple of years ago I decided I was going to start painting my own jigs. So I went out and got some powder paint. After melting quite a few jigs on my open flame heating source, I gave the paint away. The thought crossed my mind to get a fluid bed system, but that idea quickly left my cerebral cortex when I thought of really how few jigs I was really going to be painting. Then I started using finger nail polish. After discovering that not all polishes are made the same, I started thinking about how to overcome the main failure of polish, incomplete opacity without multiple coats in certain colors. I have an idea. Harbor Freight sells powder paint and heat guns. Gun cost about $35 and 16 oz of paint costs about $7. If a person got white paint and applied it to every jig, then overlaid the particular finger nail polish color you want. Would it work? Anyone ever try that technique? Yes, I know it is probably an overkill, but I have really had trouble getting the results I desire with polish alone.
