I’ve tied a couple without heads on a jig hook and used bead chain eyes, which have almost no weight. The lead on the shank gave it a different attitude during the fall too. The tree I lost em in liked em fine but so did a bunch of black crappie.

Pic 1 is jig with lead eyes, no lead wire. Total weight.034 oz.(1/32), #6 hook
Pic 2 is same with lead wire,total weight. 045 oz, (1/24,th)
Pic 1 has a better tapered shape

Don't think shape difference is going to matter much, but what size lead wire are you using? Seems I also remember you can get some small lead strips, but not sure that would be any better?
I would be fine just as is on either one.
