I have that pot and have had it for a number of years, its been a very reliable pot. I get those drips from time to time, using a flathead screwdriver on the stems will fix that. Just twist it one way or the other until the drip stops. If you get a weird stream when pouring, thats usually when you have debris clogging the spout. Some guys use a hook, I like to use a finishing nail to clear any debris.

What size lead pot do most use starting out? 10 lb?

I’ve had two 20lb in the last 8 years and both over time dripped so bad. Got fed up and was needing to pour so went to BPS and they only had a 10lb so got it. So far I like it and works great. If it goes down hill I’ll be forking out the hundreds for a Lyman or RCBS. Heck maybe even get a spin cast.

I don't do large pours, mostly for myself and a few neighbors. 10# has fit my needs for years.

Oh I will say that when I get to pouring 1 ounce jigs it goes down fast.

I have a ten and a twenty, the twenty was given to me. All the right corrections have already been given. I like the ten and have had it for a lot of years since I bought it new. I’ve had another twenty years ago and for my small jigs the ten worked better. Long pants and sleeves are smart, glasses too. Enjoy, it’s a lot of fun.
