Jig Storage- Thought I'd Share

Hey guys, I thought I'd share how I store my jigs now. I used to just keep them open in the box, but the tail would always get curled up, and basically ruin them over time. I bought these plano boxes at Academy (low profile), and I bought the yoga mat at Wal-Mart for $15. Any high density foam will work, but the thickness of this, and the depth of the tray works out perfect so the box closes just perfect to hold the jigs. I'd love to see how you guys store yours, I'm definitely open to learn any tips that you guys have!

Your idea looks really nice and a good way to store your jigs. Here is a post I did a good while back and see what you think. Just add some of that foam glued in with hoot glue gun is all one needs.

I really like your jig case. I have been trying the same principal for the entire winter but currently just using styrafoam. I have a Pilates Yoga Mat that I am more than willing to cut up, but; it looks much thinner than yours. Do you happen to know the thickness you have ? Thanks, Pop

The sheet of foam at Walmart or Hobby Lobby is what I used in mine. Just took a couple quick pics with my phone and will post here. One advantage the system I picked is there are a lot of small boxes in the large one. Then I can pick and choose which small boxes I want to take.

It's not bad at all. I think they are going to hold up really well. And with a whole yoga mat sacrificed to the cause, I can replace them a bunch of times if needed, lol!

I can put 5 of these boxes in the little Bass Pro Shop bag.

Just remember some foam membrane material will hold moisture like a sponge and that hurts hooks on jigs that sit for long periods of time. Just don't pack one hundred jigs IN the boat for a entire season. Moisture and humidity have negative effects on hooks. I use foam to do this also, I have no idea which is what, just don't leave your hooks berried in in foam for weeks in the boat and you wont have damage. Just Grumpy rambling.

It's just shy of 1/2", 7/16" to be exact.
