i dropshot a bunch for those fish. i use alot of different flies. but my go to for everything, is a one 1'' gulp minnow about 10'' off the bottom, then about 18'' up from that a 2 1/2'' gulp minnow. the gills will hit the 1'', and the crappie like them both along with just
about everything else. i use aberdeen hooks.

I have looked high and low here for a picture of one of my little jigs I made years back and used it in a Drop Shot rig and worked well. Finally after several tries yesterday and today I found a picture. I don't remember when these were tied because the only date I have is when I put them on this computer, but the crappie did like these, but know the Peacock Herl is not strong, but all fish seem to love it! The body is Danville FL Wool. I need to make some more for my fishing as well, lol!

Try a #8 and #10 wooly bugger. I also tie them on jig heads also, very effective fly. Any nymph pattern should also work.
Would be better to tie the pattern and to the line with the hook point up if you will use it for drop shotting.

for flies tied to a dropshot rig, and think a straight eye on a hook works much better then a jig style hook.
a jig is going to hang weird...
